Tuesday Tarot ~ Intuition ~ Tools ~ The Importance of Practice
People sometimes ask me whether or not intuition is used when using tarot cards or if it is just the cards that tell me what to say. In my view the answer is clear: when you read tarot cards it is your intuition, and not the cards, that is doing the work. The tool is not magic ... you are the one with the magic! And when you utilize tools to help harness your intuition you are doing just that ... using a tool to help activate your intuition. Let's look at it from a different perspective ... a musician might be a great singer. Singing is a pure raw talent, much like intuition, that we all possess and can work on improving, if we so choose. Now let's imagine the singer picks up a guitar and plays the guitar instead of singing. She is still a musician. She is still making music. We do not say of her: she is not a real musician because she plays the guitar. But this same thing happens with intuitives and psychics; some people think that because an intuitive uses a tool they are not truly using their intuition. The musician uses her musical talent just as much when he is playing guitar as when she was singing. And similarly an intuitive uses her intuitive gifts just as much when working with tarot cards as when she works without any tools. It takes training to be able to use tools. When you want to play the guitar or read tarot cards you usually cannot just pick them up for the first time and expect to be awesome at it. But a trained musician will have a much easier time learning a new instrument than someone who has not practiced their musical ability. Just as someone who has trained themselves to use their intuition will find that a new tool like tarot cards will come easier to them than someone who has ignored their intuitive self and have no experience working with their intuition. Everyone has intuitive ability, just like everyone has musical ability. We might never tap into it. We might ignore it, but it is there in all of us. Some people are more naturally able to access their gifts while others might have to work harder to feel comfortable in a previously unexplored area. I recently started playing the ukulele. I have not great musical talent but in a few months I have made significant progress. If you were to choose today to start practicing with your intuition, as I have been practicing with my ukulele, you would also see significant improvement. Whether or not you choose to work with tools or not isn't as important as whether or not you practice. What do you think about this? Is intuition used in reading tarot cards? Have you had any experience with tarot cards or other tools? I would love to hear about it! Photo by Rhett Wesley on Unsplash
