Since I have already written an article on the lunar eclipse today (find it here) I thought I would do something different today and offer you a tarot spread to play with in honor of the full moon in Aquarius! There are many ways to honor the natural cycles of the earth and sky and one of them is to open yourself to celestial guidance. This tarot spread can be done on the day of the eclipse or really at any time. I like doing this during the eclipse to harness the universal energy. If you are new to tarot and wondering how to prepare for a tarot spread I like to do a couple of things to get ready: First - Sit in meditation for a few moments in order to clear your mind and to focus on the question at hand. Second - Shuffle the cards while focusing on your intent. You may also cut the cards if it feels right. Third - Pull the cards and interpret how they apply to you. I would love to hear about how you experience the lunar eclipse and this tarot spread!

The full moon in Capricorn occurs on Saturday June 8 at 10:06 PM here in the mountain time zone. This full moon is tightly conjunct Pluto in Capricorn so it is highlighting issues surrounding power, business, politics, structure, and the idea of hierarchy. Who is in charge after all? Money is power … are we letting money control our lives? Are we consciously making decisions for ourselves or are we letting our subconscious urges push us in certain directions? Under this full moon it is a good time to look within and face our shadow. Are we afraid? What are we going to do about it? Harnessing our personal power and claiming responsibility for our own lives are the key to freeing ourselves from unhealthy patterns. The Sabian Symbol for the full moon at 18 degrees Capricorn is “The Union Jack Flies From A British Warship”. This symbol certainly seems to echo the theme of power. Historically Great Britain would police the seas with their warships to provide protection. This is an example of how we use the potential of violence in order to maintain order in our culture. Is this being used appropriately? Are those in power using their power wisely and justly? Or is power being abused to further aims that do not reflect the good of the whole? I think many see corruption in our current system and this full moon will highlight any abuse of power so look for the in the media. I expect this full moon to be a precursor to the major solar eclipse happening next month on August 21 so this full moon is just the beginning. In our personal lives we can deal with this full moon my addressing issues of control and power within our own lives. Are you a control freak? Can you let go of that need? Using the weeks following the full moon to “let go” is a perfect use of the lunar cycle. So letting go of control, of fears, of power struggles … this is the time to address these things in our lives. Depending on where the full moon falls in your natal chart you may feel this full moon highlighting a certain area of your life. For example the full moon falls in my 4th house of home, not only my physical home but also my inner world and psychology, so issues surrounding my home and family may arise, or I may do some soul searching regarding shadow issues. Choosing to set an intention at this time to better handle this area of life in some way is a great way to use this energy. For example I may renew my commitment to meditation and spend some extra time meditating about what might be holding me back internally from fully being the person I see myself being. Stay calm, reflect upon power and control instead of finding yourself in the midst of a huge power struggle. Of course if you are interested in standing up for a belief you have and showing your support publicly go right ahead. Standing up for the little guy is going to continue to be a theme this summer. Just remember to use that power wisely! Namaste! And Happy Full Moon! |
