The New Moon in Virgo happens on Friday, August 30th. I prepared this ritual for The Rich Witch FaceBook Group. If you are interested please join us!
This ritual can be done the day or two before the new moon, the day of, and up to three days after the new moon. For added power you can repeat the ritual three days in a row. I will be posting more about the nature of this new moon on Friday. Until then I would love to hear your thoughts on this ritual or any ritual of your own that you like to do under the new moon. The hermit represents the need to find a light in the darkness. We all know what darkness is, metaphorically speaking. Sometimes we feel very alone but the only way for us to learn how to deal with those feelings and authentic manner is to look within.
There is this quote I love, although I forget the source. So let me paraphrase: “The only thing we all have in common with each other is how alone we all are.” This quote is not meant to be depressing, rather, it’s to remind us that this loneliness is a part of being human, and that we all must learn to navigate it on our own terms. Looking within, calling upon the intuitive voice, sitting in silence, engaging in walking mediation, candle gazing, and so many other activities bring us closer to the inner voice of wisdom. It’s the small voice that we all have. But we all must practice listening to it if we wish to connect more fully. And some of us need more practice than others! LOL! But seriously. The only way to peace is inward. And once we determine the inner landscape and figure out how to navigate the hills and valleys, rivers and oceans of our inner world are we able to create a sense of lasting inner peace. Once we have found inner peace then, and only then, can we use our inner light as a guide for others, much like the light from The Hermit’s lantern goes in all directions. So too can our own inner peace spread to light the way for those around us, so that they, too, can figure out the road within themselves and find their own sense of inner peace. What are your thoughts on The Hermit? If you have an image of The Hermit from a deck you love I would love to see it! My card is from the Robin Wood Tarot and is surrounded by Samadhi Quartz on the top and Celestite below. Enter Priestess
Mercury enters Virgo today along with his brothers and sisters who are already in residence there (Venus, Mars, Sun and Juno). Even the moon joins them later today making a huge group in the innocuous sign of Virgo. But this is a time for your inner priestess (or priest) to emerge and recognize the natural sacredness of our everyday lives. It doesn’t need to be fabulous or over the top for it to be holy and special. Mercury is the thoughts we think and the words we say and at this time it is even more important that we are focused on the proper message that suits our soul evolution. We must minister to ourselves in the manner. Accept the job. Photo by timJ on Unsplash
Clearing the (emotional) path
Although we probably feel unmotivated most of the day it’s still important to focus. If emotions are too distracting remember that the worst is over for now. We are in the midst of a tantalizing week and while today might feel like a slow day allow yourself to get clear of any emotional blocks so that you can make the most of the week ahead. Indulge in the physical experience
Venus and Mars conjoin in nature loving Virgo today. Doing something earthy, that excites all of your senses, is highly recommended under this energy. Traditionally with Venus and Mars that is thought of as sexy sexy time with your sweetheart but allow an open mind here and think outside the box, too. A long walk in nature, feeling the wind on your face and being surrounded by the sights and sounds of your environment is a perfect way to celebrate this. Bring along someone or something you love, like your partner, your child, your parent, your friend, your journal, your favorite crystal, your current audiobook. Realizing that you, too, are a part of this natural world is a powerful and exciting realization. Lean into it. Invite the beauty around you to permeate every cell of your being. Get off on the excitement that we are here to enjoy our physical bodies and physical experiences, and give yourself permission to do just that. Photo by Anna Sastre on Unsplash Is it perfectionism? Or just always improving?
The Sun and Juno enter the sign of Virgo today, joining Venus and Mars. All are within the first 4 degrees of the sign creating a powerful Virgo stellium and leading us down the road of self-improvement. Just know that self-improvement isn’t just an internal thing, it’s also re-arranging the furniture, cleaning out the cobwebs, and taking out the trash (both physical and metaphorical). People often label Virgo as the perfectionist but honestly I think most Virgos know that nothing can ever truly be perfect. There is always room for improvement. And so begins the long journey of ever improving our lives in small, innocuous ways, until our lives no longer even look like the original version at all. This is about our physical reality, our bodies, and our environment. But Virgo is also a bridge between the physical and metaphysical, as her ruler Mercury transcends the boundaries between heaven and earth and hell with ease. This quest for improvement is in its purest form a sacred practice. We can all embrace that right now and for the next month as the sun lingers in this sign. What small improvements can we make to create an even more sacred incarnation this time around? Photo by Sandy Millar on Unsplash |
