Well Hello World! We are off to a kicking start for 2018. Energies are flowing and we are feeling good! At least the is the feedback I am getting from my clients and am experiencing for myself. I hope the new year is treating you just as well!
Here is the weekly rundown of the astrology for the week ahead. We have some really lovely energy this week so keep reading to see how you can harness that energy to work for you in your own life! Monday January 15 ~ What’s going on today: Jupiter trine Pluto is exact on Monday but this gets reactivated again next week when Mercury acts as a trigger by conjoining Pluto and making a trine to Jupiter. What it means: This is a signature for power and we have the opportunity in our personal lives to harness our own power. Ideally this is done with wisdom and generosity although we will probably see examples in other places on the spectrum play out over the next week or so in public both through our jobs and in the media. Taking a leadership role is supported by this energy so it is time to take charge! If other people are on a power trip consider that while there is potential for confrontation it is also better to choose your battles wisely. Questions to ask yourself: How can I step into my personal power more strongly? What areas of my own life do I need to take control of at this time? Tuesday January 16 ~ What’s going on today: New Moon 27 degrees Capricorn What it means: New moons contain an amazing infusion of positive energy. Where it falls in your personal chart determines the area in which you feel it most strongly in your own life. Generally the sign of Capricorn is about setting goals and taking action to make them into reality. We can use this new moon to reinvigorate our resolutions for the year. If you did not make any resolutions perhaps it is time to sit down and write out your goals for the week, the month, the year. If we do not plan we probably will not make it happen. Take advantage of this energy and use it to give you a positive push toward creating the magical life you truly desire. Questions to ask yourself: What are my goals and what am I doing to achieve them? What area of my life needs structure and direction? What can I do today to help set myself up for a successful week, month and year ahead? Wednesday January 17 ~ What’s going on today: Venus ingress Aquarius What it means: Most people who are familiar with astrology have strong feelings about Venus in Aquarius. Many of them strongly oppose this placement. I am on the other side of this debate. I have Venus in Aquarius, many of my friends and family also have Venus in Aquarius, and it can be lovely, but there is a catch. Venus is Aquarius is not very comfortable showing affection. In fact, if someone with Venus in Aquarius likes you they will more likely completely ignore you than talk to you. It’s quirky, I know. But the truth is that we have the chance to develop relationships based on intellect, conversation, interests and causes instead of on how we feel. There is a place for feelings but if we can create relationships based on these broader interests then they are more likely to last. Creating relationships solely on attraction creates a situation where what we are attracted to over time might change, or we might meet someone else who is similarly attractive, and the relationship might falter. But if we create relationships because we love how someone’s mind works, because we share an interest in playing the ukulele together, because we have enlightening and interesting conversations on many topics, because we both enjoy trying new ethnic recipes, then those shared interests keep the relationship dynamic. Questions to ask yourself: How can I explore my relationships from my mind instead of from my feelings? How can I show someone I care that is unique? Do I have a wide variety of people in my life or all they all similar … and then is that a good thing for me? Thursday January 18 ~ What’s going on today: not a lot It’s not an active day from an astrological perspective but we can continue working on the themes from earlier this week: leadership, power, goals, actions, relationship. Friday January 18 ~ What’s going on today: Mercury sextile Neptune and sun enters Aquarius What it means: With Mercury sextile Neptune there is a dreamy quality to today and it is a wonderful day to do manifestation work. Creating a vision board or imagining your life with your goals accomplished are great activities for today. There is also a musical quality to this energy where I imagine the world as musical theater today. So if you feel like breaking into song go right ahead! It fits the energy and I doubt anyone will wonder too much about what you are doing! With the sun entering the sign of Aquarius we start a new zodiacal month. Aquarius is associated with innovation, inventions, humanitarian causes, revolutions and rebellions, among other things. People with the sun in Aquarius are often seen as aloof but how I like to explain it is that there is so much going on inside an Aquarians head that they often forget to pay attention to the here and now right in front of them. Aquarius is also a fixed sign so look expect to see people behaving a little more stubborn than usual with two planets (the sun and Venus) now in Aquarius. Questions to ask yourself: How can I renovate my own life so it is more original and more authentically me? Is there something in my own life that I am rebelling against … and if so how can I finally overcome? Am I being stubborn because I am right or because I hate being wrong? Saturday January 20 and Sunday January 21 ~ What’s going on these days: not a lot Both Saturday and Sunday are quiet days astrologically but this gives us the chance to catch up with all this energy! Things have changed enormously in the past month or so from an energetic perspective so now we can work on harnessing this energy in a positive way in our lives. Again the themes for week are power, leadership, goals, actions, relationships and originality. What are you working on this week? I would love to hear about it!

New moons are times of beginnings. They are times when we can take a fresh look at things and see from a new perspective. We can set our intentions and recommit to our goals about what is important in our lives. Perhaps we have just a small glimmer of hope or perhaps we have a full fledged plan but either way we can use the time of the new moon to plant the seed of change in our patterns in order to get where we want to be in life. This Sunday July 23 we have the new moon in Leo perfecting at 3:46 AM in the very first degree of Leo, only a few hours after the sun makes his ingress into the sign where he stays for the next month. The sign of Leo is about allowing our true selves to shine. You are an individual and as such you have something unique to offer the world. Leo helps us to recognize our individual gifts and share them with others. Leo appreciates when others notice how special they are as well but we must first find our own gifts in order to share them. If you lack confidence the new moon in Leo is a wonderful time to plant the seed of courage in your heart to gain more self-confidence and a healthy sense of self love. If this idea triggers something scary inside perhaps it is a good idea to think about this more deeply. If you wish to further develop your leadership skills the new moon in Leo is a great time for focusing on this area of life as well. There are a lot of ways to improve leadership skills and maybe for you it means reading a book about the subject. Or maybe it means volunteering as a big brother or big sister to be a role model for someone younger. Or perhaps it means clarifying your own vision about where you wish to take your life or your organization. Any of these intentions can be set under the new moon in Leo and then built upon over the course of the next month. You can also look at see where the new moon falls in your own birth chart by house or aspect to see what part of your life is being highlighted. If you do not know how to do this an astrologer (like me) can help you figure this out. For example in my chart the new moon falls in my fifth house of fun, creativity, romance, and children. These are some of the areas in my life I can find highlighted over the next month or that I can willingly choose to work on over the next month through my intentions. I could set an intention to do more creative art projects with my daughter. I could also set an intention to create more fun, romantic time for myself and my husband. Usually we feel pulled in a direction already and so we can use the new moon to further along a goal we are already considering. The Sabian Symbol for this new moon is “Blood Rushes To A Man’s Head As His Vital Energies Are Mobilized Under The Spur Of Ambition”. This symbol makes me think about what it means to be really alive. Are you taking risks in your life? Are you engaging the life you truly desire to live? Stoking that inner fire is something that can make you feel alive. Leo is a fire sign, after all, and passion is a big part of all fire signs. Are you living passionately? If not what are you going to do about it? Come on, live a little! Live a lot! One last thing about this new moon … it is heavily tied into action. Don’t just set the intentions … do something about it! Don’t just wish something would change in your life … take the steps needed to make it happen. For example if you are dreaming of going back to school them enroll and go get some books that will help prepare you for your studies. If you want to travel more then don’t just plan a trip for next year go out on a day hike with a picnic and explore the area where you are living right now. If you want to learn to cook don’t just watch cooking shows on TV and instead start getting your hands dirty in the kitchen. Whatever it is take action. The stars are helping you right now the bring your desires into reality through motivation and industry. The new moon in Cancer occurs at 8:31 PM on Friday, June 23 here in Montana (mountain time). New moons are best for new beginnings, fresh starts, and planting (metaphorical) seeds. The sign of Cancer is known for being both protective and intuitive. If you are working on areas of self-protection such as healthy boundaries and saying no then this new moon can aid with those things. If you are working on developing your intuition this new moon is also a great time to focus more on that area. Depending on where this new moon falls in your own chart (by both house and aspect) the new moon can also be harnessed to improve that area of your life. For example the new moon falls in my 10th house of career and so this is a great time for me to dedicate myself to improving or expanding my career and business.
The new moon occurs at 3 degrees of Cancer. So if you have planets at 3 degrees of an cardinal signs (Aries. Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) you will feel motivated to make changes with this new moon. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is “A Man Bundled in Fur Leads a Shaggy Deer”. This is an unusual symbol. If someone is bundled in fur it is likely very cold. And here he is working with the deer instead of hunting it. To me this brings in the idea of working through hardship and cold in cooperation with nature. Deer are wild animals but here it is being led willingly. There is something here that reminds me of the Strength card from the tarot as well. We tame the wildness within and we walk out of the cold. Some of the “background noise” for the weekend and week ahead is a volatile t-square involving Mars, Jupiter and Pluto. This type of energy can be a little dangerous as we tend to blow things out of proportion and explode. The caution here is to be on guard but be careful not to overreact. Balance and perspective helps to keep things in line. But if you are accident prone or have anger issues you may need to work extra hard in order to stay safe and retain your poise. One last thought on the new moon in Cancer … the moon rules the sign of Cancer and both share very nurturing energy. Cancer is the mother of the zodiac. With this energy you have the opportunity to nurture yourself and your family. How do you care properly for yourself and for those around you? This is a good time to recommit to being kind, nurturing, and compassionate … especially to yourself. Give yourself a hug and allow yourself to truly acknowledge your feeling in an authentic manner, instead of being too hard on yourself. Happy New Moon! |
