(The Quest For) Emotional Freedom
On Friday, April 19th, we have a powerful, rebellious full moon in Libra. Rebelliousness and Libra aren’t normally used in the same sentence but here we have the sun at the last degree of Aries conjunct Uranus in early Taurus with the full moon opposing those two naturally rebellious placements. Emotional freedom? Why yes, thank you!
Often Libra tries to put others before herself. In this case there is the feeling that enough is enough and I need freedom right now! We may feel that we have given everything we have to give to our partner, our cause, our commitment, and that before we go down with the ship it’s time to save ourselves. Such is life. Our survival instinct kicks in naturally.
The vibrational patterns in the full moon chart correlate to looking analytically at your own wellbeing. If you feel that a situation is no longer working in your favor you will either decide to take a more analytical and scientific approach to fixing it or you will simply cut the cord. We desperately want a revolution now and if we cannot get said revolution we are willing to jump ship. The patterns repeat. Freedom it is … do or die.
Whatever you are obsessing about right now it’s time to take stock and be pragmatic. Stop the emotional investment and look at things from an outside perspective, instead. If things can be salvaged, fine, do it. But if you have been living in some sort of denial of the reality of a situation that is going to come to a head and be clear. Be honest with yourself, but remember that there is no need to be brutal with yourself. Don’t beat yourself up over the choices of the past. Remember that the point of power is always in the present moment and be there, in the present, now.
Both the sun and the moon will be moving into new signs shortly after the full moon is exact. Everything comes to a head … the things that we were unwilling to change are now, suddenly changing, and it might be out of our control. We feel things peak and then life goes on. It’s the nature of reality. Nothing remains the same. And that’s okay. This full moon, ultimately, is teaching us how to let go. The reward, after letting go, is emotional freedom.
A true story about Saturn, Pluto and the south node in Capricorn:
So there’s this mama bird I know. She decided to build her nest right outside my front door. This started yesterday morning and already I am inappropriately emotionally attached to her story. How can she possibly raise her babies in this spot? I am worried about her and the choices she is making. I am worried her nest will get destroyed by a passerby. Or that she will abandon her eggs or her babies when the humans come too close. There is no other way in or out. My family and our neighbors have no option but to walk by. I wish her only the best but I fear a tragedy might be unfolding right before my eyes. Be careful where you build your nest. Is the area sustainable? It’s better to let go before you become too fully invested but I don’t think I can tell mama bird that. I don’t want to see her hard work destroyed.
I remember being a young girl and trying to save a similar nest after it blew out of a tree but that mama, years ago, abandoned her young after us kiddos found it. Maybe this new story will end differently. I hope so. And yet I am already grieving for her eventual loss. Maybe I am not being fair but life seems precarious to begin with, and even more so in this type of situation.
She is already panicking about our presence. It will only get worse as she claims more of her new home and has eggs then baby birds to worry about in there. The face off seems inevitable. Being an empath isn’t limited to other humans. I understand how she feels. I don’t know how to make this work out for all involved. Something’s got to give.
Mama bird somehow has integrated the sprinkles from my own daughter’s birthday cake into her nest. There is this symbolism here about taking care of your children, her children, my children. We are all connected and still I don’t know how to make it all okay.

If you are prone to depression, like many of us are, this has been a very challenging week. Mercury has stationed direct but has done so in the vast sea of Neptune in Pisces, leaving us becalmed.
The word becalmed sounds almost idyllic. But despite the calm we are stranded. We are stuck and unless the favorable winds start to blow in our lives again we might just not be able to find a way out. We are trapped. We feel powerless. We wait for some divine intervention while we question our faith.
We see the storm in the distance. Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn are staring each other down in what is going to be a face off of reckoning. Although the fight has not yet begun we can feel the tension in the air. We see that these two are engaged in such a deep seated battle that they will be unaware of the collateral damage they cause. And we humans, unfortunately, are the ones most likely to suffer the consequences.
Our most primal instincts are telling us to take cover from the storm and yet we are stuck, exposed, on open waters without the power to propel ourselves to a safe harbor.
If this is you, it’s okay to go into survival mode. Saturn stations at the end of April and between now and then he moves less than a degree so taking care of practical concerns, of the reality in which you are living, is where the emphasis is heading. Plus I find that if you take care of Saturn life eventually gets easier.
Whatever you do it’s important that you keep taking care of yourself when you are feeling down. Keep exercising. Keep meditating. Keep eating right. Keep making healthy choices.

On Wednesday, March 20th we have a lot going on. Let’s start with the first day of spring! The sun enters Aries which signals the vernal equinox. Oh yeah. It’s exciting! Spring has sprung!
Shortly after the sun enters the new sign of Aries we have a full moon in Libra that is incredibly powerful. Further adding to the tension of this full moon is that the sun is conjunct Chiron, the wounded healer. Let me describe it this way: The sun, your will, your motivation, is compromised by a wound that seems unable to be healed completely. Instead the vulnerability must be accepted and built upon in order to turn that weakness into a source of strength so that you, in turn, are able to help others rise out of the pain they carry with them everyday. But during the full moon we are especially sensitive to our own unique pain, making it a challenge to embody the healer instead of being the wounded one in this scenario. It takes all of Aries bravery, courage and ability to take risks to fight through this existential battle. And Aries is much more comfortable on an actual battlefield that in the existential realm. But look at it as an adventure, to be all you can be, in order to create wholeness where there was once separation.
We are all vulnerable in our own special ways (Chiron). We all look to others to see if we can find acceptance (Libra). But in the end it’s up to us ourselves, each and every one of us, to find acceptance for ourselves within our own hearts (Aries). Bravely be who you are, whoever that is. You are not defined by what other people say about you. You are not defined by your pain. You get to decide what defines you. And the full moon in Libra can remind you to show up for this world as yourself. If you truly accept who you are then others, your partners in this life, will be meet you where you are. And being face to face with someone, openly and honestly, is what partnership is all about.
Allow this full moon in Libra to help you realize that when you are open and vulnerable to others it helps to create a stronger partnership. Use your presence in a relationship to bring out your own inner wisdom. But don’t look for your partner to be the source of your healing. We all have to do the healing part of it for ourselves. Our partners can bear witness and bring loving support, but at the end of the day it’s up to us to do the healing work in each of our own lives.
