Weekly Forecast ~ Week of December 24th
If you celebrate Christmas it’s here! The full moon last weekend was tense but things simmer down as we move into Christmas and New Years. It’s a good time of year to pause and reflect. Think about what you harvested over the past year and think about what seeds you intend to plant in the coming year. That’s what astrological winter is all about! Let your fields lie fallow in preparation for planting in the spring. Monday December 24th ~ Christmas Eve Moon in Cancer void-of-course at 8:50 AM CST Moon enters Leo at 10:58 AM CST Mercury square Neptune I actually have Mercury square Neptune in my natal chart so I really do know something about this. At worst it’s delusional thinking. At best it’s magical thinking. What’s the difference, you ask? It’s a fine line that’s almost impossible to see, as with everything Neptunian, but it’s there and as you practice in this area you can get the feel of things. Are you fooling yourself? Or are you creating a new reality through the thoughts you think and the words you say? There is an inherent magic in our thoughts and words so keep that in mind as you go about your day and be mindful of the power of both your deliberate messages as well as your subconscious messages. Pay attention. This aspects tempts you to go off script but be cognizant of what it is you really want to manifest in your life. Tuesday December 25th ~ Moon in Leo Merry Christmas! The sunny Leo moon adds appreciation and warmth to a day devoted to family and sharing generosity with one another, whether that is through gifts or shared meals or simply good intentioned company. Do what you can to help others feel appreciated and this will allow you to feel appreciated, too. Wednesday December 26th ~ Moon in Leo void-of-course at 9:36 AM CST Moon enters Virgo at 11:40 PM CST We have easy lunar aspects only today so we should feel like things are a breeze. Life flows. We can move from one thing to the next without obstacles coming up to block us. It’s good energy for relaxing but also for clearing up and cleaning out from yesterday’s festivities. Thursday December 27th ~ Moon in Virgo The Virgo moon loves to spend time in nature. If you have the chance today that would be an amazing thing to go do. I am in California this week and going somewhere like Muir Woods or Point Reyes would be great ideas for an activity for today. If you can’t get outside you can do some purging and clearing and organizing, all of which the Virgo moon enjoys as well. Friday December 28th Moon in Virgo void-of-course at 10:27 AM CST Moon enters Libra at 2:23 PM CST Venus sextile Pluto With Venus in a sextile aspect to Pluto today we feel beautiful, sensual, and able to recognize the attraction of the shadow. The world is made up of a combination of light and shadows. Without the shadows we would not have the same level of depth and complexity in life. Depth and complexity add interest and today is a day where we can see how special those extras dimensions of our lives are, even if we don’t always appreciate such things. Saturday December 29th ~ Moon in Libra It’s a harmonious day with the moon in lovely Libra. Libra is an air sign so appreciates intellectual pursuits. Libra is also focused on relationships so spend some time with your partner, a good friend, or a close family member. Enjoy the company and remember that for Libra it’s more important to have everyone get along than to be right about something. So can’t we all just get along? Sunday December 30th ~ Moon in Libra void-of-course at 4:53 PM CST Moon enters Scorpio at 7:23 PM CST It’s another mellow day as we prepare to welcome the new year over the next couple of days. With the moon in Libra most of the day we can relax and enjoy the harmony. When the moon enters Scorpio in the evening we might start to feel a little intensity grow but it’s still on the side of chill as long as you can keep yourself there, too!

After a relatively easy week last week in terms of astrological weather we are able to continue in that vein with some positive energy boosts. The holidays are here and life might be hectic but it feels good and we are having fun!
Monday December 17th ~ Moon in Aries Mars sextile Pluto With Mars and Pluto in harmony I like to think that there is strong motivation to do something meaningful. Pluto appreciates depth and Mars likes to take action so this energy is quite complimentary. Ask yourself if there is something you can do right now in your life that brings more meaning to your daily efforts? Then do that! Tuesday December 18th ~ Moon in Aries void-of-course at 1:21 AM CST Moon enters Taurus at 3:37 AM CST The moon in Taurus appreciates the finer things in life. By that I mean quality over quantity. I think this is an important idea to take time with as we move forward in the holiday season where over consumption and consumerism is rampant. Think about one thing you can do to make everything more special. That one thing can bring you more joy than the twenty things you might also feel like you “should” be doing. It might be family carols being sung. It might be treating yourself to a long, hot, luxurious bath. It might be making a simpler dinner with better ingredients instead of something more complex using cheaper stuff. Whatever it is for you understand that quality really does matter to Taurus. One nice thing is much better than ten just okay things! Wednesday December 19th ~ Moon in Taurus void-of-course at 6:42 PM CST Another day with the moon in Taurus allows us to slow down and take our time doing things right. Taurus isn’t in a rush. Taurus would rather do one thing at a time and do it well. No multitasking here! I dare you to try that for just one day: no multitasking … and let me know how that feels. Thursday December 20th ~ Moon enters Gemini at 8:34 AM CST Sun trine Uranus It’s an upbeat day with the sun making a smooth trine to Uranus. We feel buoyant and excited for what might be around the next corner. If this is a strange feeling for you, that feeling of excitement at the unexpected, you are long overdue to step outside your comfort zone. We often stay where we know it’s safe in the world instead of letting ourselves enter into uncertainty. But uncertainty is good for us and it helps us to get in touch with the unpredictable nature of being human. Use today’s energy to celebrate the unexpected and to do something you normally would never do! Friday December 21st ~ Winter Solstice Moon in Gemini Venus trine Neptune Mercury conjunct Jupiter Sun enters Capricorn There is a lot going on today! We will save the new season for last and start with today’s aspects. With Venus trine Neptune it’s like we are entering a romantic watercolor painting. Things are a little fuzzy, slightly out of focus, but it makes things look more attractive that way! But seriously this is a dreamy aspect, literally. Your dreams might be more active. You might feel inclined to acknowledge the divine feminine or to take that elusive moment to stop and actually smell the roses. Let’s all go get drunk on love! Mercury conjunct Jupiter is the 3rd pass in a 3 part series that began back in October before Mercury went retrograde. With Jupiter we think about the big picture and with Mercury the details so the two perspectives are being merged over the course of the last couple of months on some area of your life. For me it happens in my home sector (my fourth house) and it’s very fitting as my vision for our new home in Texas begins to take shape and I figure out all the details to make it happen. If you look back for yourself you will see a similar pattern of figuring out the way to make some goal or vision real. Hello Winter Solstice! The sun enters Capricorn today which kicks off a new solar month and a new season. It’s the first day of winter! I love the solstice. To me this is the true new year. It is the time of resolution and determination. It’s Capricorn season! Capricorn often gets the reputation as being boring and only caring about work but I don’t see that at all! Capricorn is focused and hardworking, yes, but they are funny with a dry sense of humor. They are randy like the goats that symbolize them, too. They climb mountains and then find another mountain to climb. What metaphorical mountains are looming large in your own life that you would like to conquer? With Capricorn energy you can achieve that conquest! Saturday December 22nd ~ Moon in Gemini void-of-course at 8:21 AM CST Moon enters Cancer at 10:28 AM CST Full Moon in Cancer at 11:49 AM CST The full moon in Cancer this month is dramatic, even more so than a standard full moon. In the first degree of Cancer/Capricorn there is a certain amount of tension and here we are with the full moon adding to the mix! Cancer is all about home and family while Capricorn is about building a legacy and public/professional accomplishment. So during this full moon is it likely there is some tension in our own lives between home and career. For example we want to take time off work to spend the holidays with our families but work demands creep in and infringe onto our family time. That’s just one example but you get the idea. The Sabian Symbol for the full moon is “On A Ship The Sailors Lower An Old Flag And Raise A New One”. This is a time of transition. Our allegiance may be changing. Our mission might be shifting toward something new. It’s time to take down the symbols of the “old you” and the replace them with new symbolism that better resonates with you as an evolving being. Ships are on a journey and so are we. Where are we heading to in this stage of the journey? And what flag are we flying? Sunday December 23rd ~ Moon in Cancer We may still be reeling from the intensity of yesterday’s full moon yet today, with the moon in Cancer, we can create a nesting environment for ourselves and our loved ones to have a sanctuary away from the outer world. Show those closest to you how much you love them. As my 4 year old often says “I did this for you because I love you.” We all understand and appreciate those small acts of love, whether we are on the giving or the receiving end of them. Weekly Forecast ~ Week of December 10th
I don’t want to jinx things by saying there is smooth sailing ahead but since last week’s new moon we have had some mild and supportive energy that makes this week a breeze! Or at least much more of a breeze than things have been lately! Monday December 10th ~ Moon in Capricorn Void-Of-Course at 3:27 PM CST Moon Enters Aquarius at 5:39 PM CST It’s a good day for productivity. Most of the day we have the moon in Capricorn which likes to focus on real world tasks. Accomplishment feels good, especially if you plan to rule the world someday! I know I say that as a joke but the truth is we can all be the master of our own universe. Get to it, then! Tuesday December 11th ~ Moon in Aquarius The moon in Aquarius enjoys logic problems, thinking games, but never enjoys mind games. Playing mind games with people leads to mistrust and dishonor. Aquarius wants to be an idealist but they sometimes have trouble in interpersonal relations because they can be a little too logical. If you are overthinking a relationship issue today let it go and instead ask yourself how you can help your fellow man or woman in this situation. That will help resolve the issue. Wednesday December 12th ~ Moon in Aquarius void-of-course at 3:53 PM CST Mercury enters Sagittarius (again) Mercury was just in Sagittarius a week or two ago before he dipped back into Scorpio to finish off his retrograde period. We should all be walking over familiar ground right now. We already covered this previously. But this third time around is the final chance to get your mind (Mercury) aligned with your personal philosophy (Sagittarius) so that you can truly walk the talk and not just talk the talk. As Carl Jung said: “You are what you do. Not what you say you’ll do.” Thursday December 13th ~ Moon in Aquarius void-of-course at 4:20 AM CST Moon enters Pisces at 6:40 AM CST Most of the day the moon is in Pisces which encourages us to go with the flow. Since the moon makes an early square to Mercury we might have to deal with a conflict between our head (Mercury) and our heart (moon) but if we stay with it we are assured that this too shall pass. Friday December 14th ~ Moon in Pisces The Pisces moon can get lost in imagination today, especially as she wanders into Neptune and closes her eyes to dance in the mist. Since most of us have things in the real world to accomplish we might have to fight against this but if can you try taking up the fine art of doodling today and see what shows up on the paper. You might just surprise yourself. Saturday December 15th ~ Moon in Pisces void-of-course at 5:49 AM CST Moon enters Aries at 6:44 PM CST Most of the day we wander like the void-of-course moon in Pisces. I was reading a book recently where the author talked about the spiritual practice of getting lost. The French even have a word for it, when you go for a leisurely stroll with no destination in mind you are called a “flâneur.” The energy today supports this quest to go nowhere intentionally. Try it out. See how it feels. Do the angels and faeries show up to help you along the way? Sunday December 16th ~ Moon in Aries Venus sextile Saturn Venus and Saturn get along quite well. Venus like stability in her relationships and Saturn provides a solid foundation for trust and well being. Venus is in Scorpio right now and might be feeling like she has to try too hard to feel loved but then along comes Saturn and he takes her by the hand and assures her that he loves her just as she is. This is a good day for furthering commitments and for laying foundation stones. If there is a part of your own life that needs a better foundation you can take today’s energy, commit to what needs improvement, and take the first step. Weekly Forecast ~ Week of December 3rd
There seems to be a theme this week involving Mercury and Neptune … great for spiritual work and inner realizations … not as great for getting real things done in the real world. Take heart, fair traveller, the fog will lift and the road ahead will be clear soon enough once more. Monday December 3rd ~ Moon in Libra Void-Of-Course at 12:16 PM CST Moon Enters Scorpio at 1:55 PM CST Once the moon enters Scorpio this afternoon we have 4 bodies in water signs again, and that’s not even including Chiron who is also in a water sign. We had a momentary reprieve but now are back swimming in the ocean. Use this time to get in touch with those deeper emotions that are sometimes repressed. Can you float with them? Can you simply be okay with the feelings you feel? The answer is yes, if you let yourself. Tuesday December 4th ~ Moon in Scorpio We are preparing for Mercury Station Direct on Thursday and the New Moon in Sagittarius on Friday. Personally I waiting for both of those things to occur before I start my Christmas shopping this year! I know … I am usually am early shopper too but this year the energy just hasn’t been supporting that process yet. So if you haven’t shopped yet, like me, be okay holding off until this coming weekend at the earliest. Wednesday December 5th ~ Moon in Scorpio void-of-course at 3:53 PM CST Moon enters Sagittarius at 8:49 PM CST Sun Square Neptune Think you are confused? Maybe you have things backwards? Well today’s sun-Septune square will often bring us to confront some delusion we have been living with … but don’t run away screaming yet! Think of Neptune as thick fog and the sun dispels the fog, right? It does … but the process of discovering what has been hidden in that fog can be difficult. It’s like realizing that the weight loss solution you have been working on has actually caused you to gain more weight. Unpleasant perhaps but without that realization you would stay lost on that path that isn’t really working for you after all. So honor the clarity that comes forward out of the confusion today and make the best of it. Ignorance is not bliss … you just think it is because you don’t know the full story. Thursday December 6th ~ Moon in Sagittarius Mercury Station Direct I know we have been waiting for Mercury to return to his normal, direct motion, for quite some time. And today we have the beginning of that, yay! But I just want to warn you that a stationary Mercury is a problematic Mercury so wait a few days, if you can, to sign that contract or to make that big purchase. Let him get back up to speed and then you will be fine. Friday December 7th ~ New Moon in Sagittarius Mars Conjunct Neptune The new moon in Sagittarius is, like all new moons, a wonderful influx of positive energy into an area of your chart that may have been feeling neglected or untended. Depending of where Sagittarius is in your own chart and where this new moon falls you have the opportunity to set a fresh perspective on life in that area. The sign of Sagittarius is very philosophical. It is about what we believe. Whether we prefer Nietzsche, Dr. Seuss, or Mr. Spock as setting the tone of our personal philosophy in life we have the opportunity to revisit that and refresh it, as needed. The great thing about our own personal belief system is that it continues to evolve over time and we can make adjustments as we gain more wisdom and life experience. The Sagittarius new moon is a wonderful time to do that for yourself. The Sabian Symbol for this new moon is “Sea Gulls Fly Around A Ship In Expectation Of Food”. On one hand I see that seagulls might have found a shortcut for their survival and I realize that it’s human nature, indeed the nature of all living things, to look for the easier way to do things in life. That’s why so many people eat fast food, even when they know it isn’t good for them: it’s easy and there is very little effort required to get it. The sea gulls in this symbol have lost their inherent wildness and instead have become dependent on human society to meet their needs. This gives us all the opportunity the think about where we may have lost a little bit of our own inherent wildness by becoming dependent, as well. We are not saying this is necessarily a bad thing but it is something to spark your brain and think more deeply about your own habits. As if that’s not enough today we also have Mars conjunct Neptune in Pisces. This conjunct is also square the new moon and so is a major player in the new moon energies this month as well. Mars conjunct Neptune reminds me of rainbow chasing. You can never truly find the end of the rainbow but it’s got to be out there somewhere so you look. Putting your energy into something fantastical fits the day. Another way of looking at this conjunction is as spiritual action. Instead of simply saying what you believe in your faith can you also act as you believe? Walk to talk, so to speak? If you believe the world is a good place then act like it. If you believe we are all One then why do we hurt each other? By doing so we are only hurting ourselves. Spiritual action is something more than just an idea, it’s a way of being. This new moon energy with the Mars-Neptune conjunction brings to mind a sand mandala. The Buddhist monks who make these intricate works of art do so as an offering of their belief that the nature of life is transitory. A thing of beauty can be created and then it is destroyed as a part of the ceremony. How can we spend so much time and energy working on something that will only be destroyed in the end? Because we believe that life is sacred and beautiful and that all things must end. Saturday December 8th ~ Moon in Sagittarius void-of-course at 4:00 AM CST Moon enters Capricorn at 6:01 AM CST As we are still under the sway of yesterday’s new moon energy we can apply ourselves toward our own spiritual work, whatever that looks like to us as individuals. We are spiritual creatures and yet we often spend very little time or effort on our spiritual beings. Since the new moon highlighted the tension between spiritual belief and spiritual practice we can use today to move out of our heads (where our belief lies) and into the real world (with our practice). The Capricorn moon supports this as long as we have actual things to do such as a walking meditation, yoga, gardening or even doing dishes. Anything in the physical world can be a spiritual practice if we approach the activity with such an intention. Sunday December 9th ~ Moon in Capricorn The energy today is wonderful for finally getting into those holiday tasks that you haven’t had time for yet this season. Whether it’s shopping or baking or preparing your own special holiday tradition the moon in Capricorn appreciates having something tangible to accomplish. If you don’t celebrate Christmas there is certainly something you have been meaning to do for a while now and today is a great day to make it happen. |
