The first aspect of the day before our lovely lady moon moves into her void-of-course phase is when the moon meets Jupiter to make a sextile, this peaks at 1:39 AM EDT. This is a high energy and optimistic vibration. We will probably feel like we are in a really good mood. It might be one of those nights you stay up late, but not because you can't sleep, more because you just want to!

We begin the day with the moon in Scorpio today, so intensity is high. Remember Scorpio moon takes no prisoners in the department of passion. And Scorpio moon is famous for bringing out those high emotions, good, bad or otherwise! (I was kind-of just kidding about the “prisoners” thing, well, kind of - *wink*) Even though the moon is in Scorpio today she is also void-of-course from 1:39 AM ET.

Since the moon is void-of-course in Scorpio; this is an excellent time for you to do some honest meditation. Go deep within your heart and feel your emotions. That which is love, you make flourish all over your life. That which is anything but love, you release and let go. As you let go of those negative emotions, thank them for being there while they were and the beautiful lessons you were given because of their presence. Remember nothing is “on accident” in this world.

In the later morning Mercury ingresses into the sign of Capricorn. Capricorn is the boss of the zodiac. So essentially the communicator of the planets moves into the bosses home for a bit. We might notice our thoughts and mind being quite productive, mentally active and find ourselves working on things that have a tangible outcome. Mercury in Capricorn is not in the “best” position of the zodiac but its also not in the worst position of the zodiac! In Classical Astrology it has what is called Term. This means that Mercury works well in Capricorn.

Capricorn loves history, heritage and traditions as something they hold dear. While Mercury is in Capricorn (until January 1, 2015 when Mercury moves into Aquarius) you can expect these sorts of things to occupy your mind. The shadow side of Merucry in Capricorn can have us sometimes feeling a bit moody, or even like we are not showing a lot of enthusiasm or kind of sulky. Do yourself a favor and don't let that melancholy feeling take up too much of your mind in this time. Remember to shake things up a bit and that you can still be responsible but even the responsible people need to have fun too!

The thing about this passing of Mercury in Capricorn is that it does move into Aquarius on January 1, but it doesn't stay there long because it goes into its retrograde phase on January 5. Then it moves retrograde back into Capricorn on the 8th of January. So whatever experiences you are thinking about and working on during this first passing of Merucry into Capricorn (starting today until January 1) you will revisit again, in a backwards sort of way starting on the 8th of January when Mercury retrogrades into Capricorn again. Do yourself a favor and err on the positive qualities of Mercury in Capricorn instead of the lesser energy side of Mercury in Capricorn. This will help you when Mercury makes its retrograde phase in January.

A great gemstone to work with today is Mahogany Obsidian, because it helps to balance your energies and allows a gentle release of those deep things.

Patchouli would be a great essential oil to work with. It will help you get that deep digging going on but at the same time keep you calm and peaceful.
