The big news on Sunday is the new moon in Scorpio, but before that happens we also have a lovely trine from Mercury to Neptune. Think dreaminess, fantasy, imagination, inspiration! This is a great influence for creative work, as well as for spiritual work. The energy supports meditation and expression, both!


The new moon in Scorpio occurs at 7 degrees 44 minutes Scorpio which we can round up to 8 degrees. It occurs conjunct Mercury and has great aspects to Neptune as well. Personally I love new moons because I think they contain the most positive energy and as energy practitioners we can harness the new moon in a way that is of the most aid to us. The Sabian Symbol for this new moon is A Calm Lake Bathed in Moonlight. I love this image as it relates to Scorpio very well in my view of the sign. Scorpio appears calm, they appear as ease, they appear tranquil, but the truth is no one knows what is going on deep in the waters of that lake. Water represents our emotions symbolically and how can we keep our emotions calm? The moonlight represents our intuition and things that occur outside the light of day. Emotions are not always things we share with everyone, or that we show off to others, but they are often kept to ourselves or shared secretly. This symbol asked how you can cultivate a sense of emotional calm in your own life? How can you balance your emotional equilibrium in the face of unknowns? These are important questions and while we all might have slightly different answers that search for what works for us is really what this is all about.


Let me say it again: new moons are the best time to do small rituals which invoke your intentions for the next month as well as the next six months. New moons work on multiple levels and by living in a more conscious manner, by adding these rituals to your life, you are deliberately adding intention to your life which is a powerful tool! It is generally considered that a new moon is effective for three days so if you do your ritual on Monday or Tuesday instead of today it will still work!


Monday is a rather easy day filled with only lunar aspects and then on Tuesday, November 1, we have the sun and Neptune making a lovely trine. This is a day for dreams, a day for art and music, a day for transpersonal work and for cultivating a closer relationship with spirit. Sometimes under an aspect like this we have a hard time seeing reality but the truth is this is a higher form of reality, in the realm of spirit, the realm of angels. This part of our life is just as important as more practical things like paying our bills but does not always get as much attention. But today is a great day to focus on things that bring you closer to spirit whether that is art, meditation, music, or anything else.


Wednesday is another easy day with only lunar aspects but on Thursday, November 3, there is a nice sextile from Mercury to Pluto, turning us all into detectives and investigators. This is a great aspect for figuring out what is going on under the surface as well as for discovering secrets! Our minds are sharp and focused under as aspect like this so use this energy to your advantage!
